Safeguard Capital Partners

Safeguard was formed in 2007 to facilitate loans to vendor partners rehabbing housing, for resale or for rental units, through first trust deed positions. In February 2021, Samaritan Funding NW bought Safeguard from Brandon Reed. Corey Fleetwood is now the Managing Director of Safeguard Capital partners, a DBA of Samaritan Funding. Safeguard’s office relocated to Martinsburg, West Virginia in October 2022.

Corey Fleetwood- Managing Director

Corey joined Safeguard in 2009 facilitating Self-Directed IRA and Solo 401(k) plan set ups. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in finance. He was Client Relationships Manager and has extensive experience investing in real estate and first trust deed loans working closely with clients. He continually monitors Safeguard’s trusted vendor partners in multiple cities and is consistently working on ways to better communicate with clients.

John Stoll- CFO

Jon joined Safeguard in 2021. Jon has over thirty years financial management experience in the public and private sectors. As CFO, Jon is responsible for accounting and tax compliance.

ANDREW REED- SENIOR CLIENT RELATIONS MANAGER

Andrew joined Safeguard in 2016. With over 10 years' experience in the mortgage industry, Andrew has worked in both domestic and international finance with a specific focus on asset management and investing. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho where he graduated magna cum laude. He is Safeguard's note, mortgage and trust deed closing expert. 

WALTER MCMANIGAL- CLIENT RELATIONS MANAGER

Walter joined Safeguard Capital Partners in 2021 and was promoted to Client Relations Manager in 2022. Walter has a very wide-ranging work history, from working for MESA Corporation as a computer programmer and customer service specialist to a self-owned business as a freelance Video Production Specialist and Director/Producer of Video Advertising for the AMC Movie Theater Chain. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and has taken post-graduate coursework at the American University in Washington, DC.

Jill MCMANIGAL - Advisory Group Assistant

Jill has a bachelor’s degree in business management and a wealth of experience working in international sales and marketing, education, and for the government. She has a uniqueglobal perspective through her time spent living overseas in the Netherlands and Australia.

Marijke Stoll - Advisory Group Assistant

Marijke is the most recent addition to the team, joining Safeguard in June of this year. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she earned her doctorate in Anthropology and Archaeology. Marijke has worked in a variety of fields from teaching and professional archaeology to administration and project management. She has also lived off and on in Oaxaca, Mexico, for almost twenty years and is fluent in Spanish.
